The late Sir William McAlpine was a long-time railway enthusiast. This private railway runs for over a mile into his wildlife park. It features the steepest gradient at 1:13 on any British railway. Visitors can ride the railway free.
Railway buildings etc. are erected around the site and a large building houses a large well packed museum. Here there are several model railways and collections of memorabilia of all sorts. The museums collection of cars is frequently supplemented by others from visiting car clubs.
For children there are additional attractions such as the fairground carousel.
Although food and drink will be available, visitors may choose to bring their own picnics with them.
