Sunday, 1st July 2018 – Visit to Sir William McAlpine’s Steam Railway and Museum

Following our previous visit in 2014, we have again secured a limited number of VIP invitations to this private museum at Fawley Hill outside Henley-On-Thames.

The late Sir William McAlpine was a long-time railway enthusiast. This private railway runs for over a mile into his wildlife park. It features the steepest gradient at 1:13 on any British railway. Visitors can ride the railway free.

Railway buildings etc. are erected around the site and a large building houses a large well packed museum. Here there are several model railways and collections of memorabilia of all sorts. The museums collection of cars is frequently supplemented by others from visiting car clubs.

For children there are additional attractions such as the fairground carousel.

Although food and drink will be available, visitors may choose to bring their own picnics with them.

Adults £10, Children 10-15 years £5, Under 10s Free. Tickets may be reserved as the shop at Park View Motors, The Village, Finchampstead.
